William Penn and Oskaloosa Community to Finish New Community Stadium

William Penn and the community of Oskaloosa are teaming to finish the New Community Stadium by the fall of 2011.

The $7.5 million stadium will include a four-level press box, one artificial turf field for soccer and football, one natural grass field for soccer, and an eight-lane track with locations both inside and outside the stadium for field events.

William Penn coaches cannot wait for the arrival of the new stadium.

”I am really looking forward to using it as a recruiting tool and being one of the few schools in conference to have their own track and field complex,” said Track and Field Coach Allen Friesen.  “It will also be nice to have the extra storage and room for our athletes.”

The press box area, which will be accessible for both fields, will consist of locker rooms and storage on the lower level.  The second level will include the concession stands and restrooms and the third level will be indoor suite-style seating.  The entire top level will be booths available for media, coaches, announcers, and statistics personnel.

Both fields will be lighted by Musco Sports Lighting of Oskaloosa and will have stadium-type seating with the main field providing seating for 2,200.  The fields will be used by William Penn, Oskaloosa Community Schools, and all of the Oskaloosa Community recreation leagues.

”The new stadium will be for the betterment of the community and William Penn,” said Athletics Director Greg Hafner.  “It will provide better facilities for all.”

The fields are located at the Lacey Recreation Complex on the northeast corner of Oskaloosa and will be ran and operated by Mahaska Community Recreation Foundation.
