Albia Road Baptist VBS

Benefit Softball Tournament
August 1 - A Co-ed Softball Tournament for the benefit of LeBeth Carr will be held Friday thru Sunday, August 1-3rd in Memphis, Mo. Cost is $125.00 per team. Proceeds to help LeBeth as she has been diagnosed with cancer. For more information, contact Brenda at 777-9476 or Sabrina at 660 216-7232.

July 31 - Southeast Iowa Blood Center Blood Drive will be held Thursday, July 31 from 2-6:30pm at the Blakesburg Community Center. Bring a picture ID and eat before you donate.

Country Music in Blakesburg
July 25 - Blakesburg Development Corporation presents "Good Country Music by Jerry Verden & the Lonsome Fugative Band" on Friday, July 25th at 7pm at the Blakesburg Multipurpose Center. Doors open at 5pm serving food and drinks. Tickets sold at the door for $7.00, children under 12 free. All proceeds to the renovation and upkeep of the old gym.

Ottumwa - Wednesdays 3:30-6:30pm & Saturdays 7:30-10:30am in the Quincy Place Mall Parking Lot.
Bloomfield - Saturdays 8:30-11:30am on the northside of the courthouse lawn on the Bloomfield Square.
Oskaloosa - Tuesdays from 4-6pm on the east side of the Oskaloosa square & Saturdays from 8-11am in the Hy-Vee parking lot.

Ice Cream Social in Lebanon
August 5 - An Ice Cream Social will be held Tuesday, August 5th at the Lebanon Methodist Church. Serving begins at 5pm with homemade ice cream, pie, and cake for a free-will offering. The church is located at the junction of V-64 and J-40 in Van Buren County.
KAABA Rag Tops Golf Tourney
September 14 - Bud Light / KAABA Rag Tops Open Golf Tournament will be held Sunday, September 14 at Cedar Creek Golf Course in Ottumwa. Shotgun start at 10am. KAABA Rag Tops fundraiser to be used for charitable purposes and activities.
Packwood Quasquicentennial Celebration
September 6 - Packwood Quasquicentennial Celebration will be held Saturday, September 6th. Breakfast, dinner, and supper along with parades, pedal pull tractor event, garden tractor rodeo, kid's activities, music, and a street dance. Everyone is invited.
Salvation Army School Assistance
Now thru August 12 - The Salvation Army in Ottumwa has begun accepting applications for back to school assistance. Assistance is open to residents of Wapello County for children enterting pre-school thru high school. Applicants are encouraged to bring social security card or other form of ID for each child, as well as proof of family income and residency. Children will be given assistance with school supplies and clothing through the Thrift Store.
Applications will be accepted at The Salvation Army, 203 W. 4th Street, Monday thru Friday from 8:30-11:30am & 1-4pm thru August 12th.
Name of children will be available for adoption at area merchants and drop-off locations for donations will begin in August. Contact the Salvation Army for more information at 682-7597. The Salvation Army is a United Way agency.
Sweet Corn Serenade in Oskaloosa
July 31 - Main Street's Sweet Corn Serenade Festival & Craft Show in Oskaloosa will be held Thursday, July 31st from 12noon-9pm. Craft and food vendors begin at noon. Sweet corn, pork burgers, pie, ice-cream, and pop begin at 4pm. Activities for the whole family begin at 5pm. Inflatable activities, Hawkeye Pedal Pull, train rides for kids, balloons, pie baking contest, music by Cadillac Jack and the Blue Light Special, Piercing the Darkness, Dance Academy, Municipal Band, and more. Volunteers Needed at Lake Red Rock
April thru September - Spend the summer camping at Lake Red Rock for free! The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will provide a free, full hook-up campsite to volunteers in the following position: Whitebreast Beach Volunteer and Wallashuck Mowing Volunteer.
